Eco Cell Battery Exposition

There can be no discussion of the battery cell manufacturing process without roll-to-roll technology

Ceramic capacitors and electrical double layer capacitors are often used as lithium-ion secondary batteries and storage units in electric and electronic products; oxide semiconductor solar cells, organic thin film solar cells, and die sensitized solar cells are gaining increased attention as the next generation of thin film solar cells.  For any of these, however, converting technologies, such as coating, laminating, roll-to-roll, web handling, slitting, and cutting, are central.

Currently, many hybrid automobiles, including the Toyota Prius, use nickel-hydride secondary batteries.  The industry, however, believes that lithium-ion secondary batteries will replace these in the future as their high energy density and energy volume density easily allows them to be miniaturized and to meet the needs of plug-in hybrids.  Lithium-ion secondary batteries have come to prominence as secondary batteries.  Given their high energy density and use of combustible and inflammable materials, however, it is now necessary to increase the processing precision of active material containing electrodes and packaging.  Thus, without advanced converting technology, it is impossible to discuss these improvements.

As silicone-based solar cells have dominated the photovoltaic cell market up to now, there has been a demand for generation efficiency and durability.  Recently, however, there is a demand for the better cost responsiveness and energy pay-back time, from an environmental standpoint, of conceptual non-silicone-based solar cells.  In contrast to conventional roof-mounted power sources, their use as supplemental power sources integrated into various devices has become popular as solar cells have become more flexible.  In this way, decreasing costs through enlargement and mass production will become necessary.

Converting technology is an ideal mass production approach using “roll-to-roll,” technology and, as a specialty of Japan, has primarily taken the lead in the manufacturing of flat panel displays.  “Eco-Cells,” such as lithium-ion secondary batteries and non-silicone-based solar cells, are essential to the realization of sustainable development, which includes achieving energy use reduction and a low carbon society.

With its focus on converting and materials, the “Eco-cell Manufacturing Show” will be held consecutively with “Convertech JAPAN,” “Printable Electronics,” “neo functional material,” and “nano tech” as a trade show where all areas related to battery manufacturing can be experienced.

The “Eco-cell Manufacturing Show” will act as a bridge linking converting, printable electronics, and nano technology material technology.

■ The “Eco-cell Manufacturing Show” will be held consecutively with the following closely related trade shows in order to emphasize the strengths of production technology integration.
